Position Summary

The Greenskeeper I performs routine golf course maintenance and groundskeeping duties under the supervision of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Foreman. This role supports daily course conditioning through mowing, trimming, irrigation support, bunker maintenance, and landscape care. Ideal candidates are dependable, safety-minded, and enjoy working outdoors as part of a team dedicated to excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate hand-powered and small motorized equipment including mowers, string trimmers, edgers, and bunker rakes

• Trim and maintain greens, tees, aprons, banks, hillsides, cart paths, and bunkers

• Set tee markers and hole locations; maintain ball washers, flags, and tee towels

• Remove debris and maintain flower beds and landscaped areas

• Sand and seed divots on tees and drop areas

• Maintain fuel and fluid levels for equipment; report mechanical issues promptly

• Clean equipment and return it to designated storage areas daily

• Water and fertilize tees, greens, and fairways

• Assist with chemical applications under the supervision of a certified applicator

• Mark the course for cart control and replace ropes, signs, and barriers as needed

• Assist with course projects including construction and renovation of greens, tees, and fairways

• Grade soil, lay sod, seed turf areas, and assist with irrigation system repairs

• Assist with installation of walk paths and minor construction projects

• Operate utility vehicles, riding mowers, tractors, or dump trucks as trained and directed

Additional Duties

• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent or management

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

License:

• Valid State of Hawaii Driver’s License required

Experience:

• Knowledge of golf course or landscape maintenance methods preferred

• Experience using hand and power tools and small equipment preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to operate light motorized equipment and utility vehicles

• Strong physical stamina, strength, and agility

• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions

• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs

• Frequent bending, kneeling, walking, and standing throughout the workday

• Continuous mobility while mowing, trimming, and performing maintenance tasks

• Operation of riding and walk-behind mowers and utility vehicles

• Work is 100% outdoors with regular exposure to sun, wind, and varying weather conditions

• Ability to hear equipment operation and golfer warnings

• Ability to visually monitor surroundings for safety and course conditions

• Occasional exposure to fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides in accordance with regulations

• Required use of protective equipment including gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection as directed
